Raine Bongon is a Filipina-Canadian screenwriter, script analyst and poet. She is currently based in Vancouver, BC and is privileged to work on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.Beginning her career at the University of Victoria’s Creative Writing program, Raine graduated from the Vancouver Film School’s one-year intensive Writing for Film, Television and Games program in August 2021 with a specialization in writing for television.At her graduation ceremony, Raine's original TV pilot Ravenlock received the Silver Siddle Award for Best TV Pilot. Her feature-length coming-of-age musical drama Anne Zyadee was awarded Best Feature Script.Raine’s earlier poetry was published in the 24th volume of the University of Houston’s Glass Mountain Literary Magazine. Her poetry can also be found in local art journals and zines such as Bodies of Water.Born in the Philippines and raised in Dubai and Vancouver, Raine is fiercely dedicated to the representation of marginalized communities in film and television and tells undertold stories straight from the heart of a queer immigrant woman.Raine's long-term professional goal is to work her way up to staff writer on a television series that makes her and her friends laugh, cry and throw things at their screens.
